| Dal sito della Modern City Records, label che ha pubblicato LDSàQQ: CITAZIONE De Facto Légende du Scorpion à Quatre Queues LP/CD
"De Facto. Dub music. Heavy on the music. These cats have created some serious earth jams. Ripe, full, thick and ever so tasty. "Légende du Scorpion à Quatre Queues" is the album. But this scorpion is no mere legend -it's the mass-wicked nasty and dangerous real deal. I have, on travels thru the lone star state ("Tejas" to those who live(d) there), felt the presence of this not-so-mythological creature. Sinister and alluring, like the jams contained within this righteous long playing LP.
The gentlemen of De Facto. Heavy cats. Players de musica. First you got Omar Rodriguez and Cedric Bixler from At The Drive-In. Only now the fellows are showing their respective other sides what with Omar handling deepest bass and Cedric bringin' the dopest one-drop drum beats what for ya to get yer noggin noddin'. Add one straight-up Texas homeboy name of Jeremy Ward on vocals and effects. And effects. And effects. Then finally and crucially, keyboardist extraordinaire Isaiah "Ikey" Owens (L.A. cat with connections to the Sublime/Long Beach Dub All Stars teams).
This group has made a triple-deep true dub LP. In the long tradition of classic platters by Augustus Pablo, Scientist, King Tubby, and of course Scratch, De Facto here issues a serious contender. This ain't no joke : no ironic / super-self-aware / look-how-clever-we-are-and-what-we're-referencing type of bullshit here. Real music, real dub for those who know what the real shit sounds like, bro."
-Joshua LaRue
Cedric Bixler, Omar Rodriguez and Jeremy Ward started De Facto in El Paso, TX in the mid-nineties. They relocated to Long Beach, CA in 2000 and were joined by keyboardist Ikey Owens. They've only played a few shows in the US but they toured Europe twice in 2000 and 2001. Members of De Facto also play in The Mars Volta.
"Légende du Scorpion à Quatre Queues" was recorded in Long Beach, CA, El Paso, TX and live in Europe in 2000 and 2001. Link (è possibile ascoltare un paio di brani in Real Player e scaricare le copertine dell'album). Sullo stesso sito: qualche info sui DF e la loro discografia
