CITAZIONE
DEANTONI PARKS: ASTROID POWER-UP!

Fans of amazing improvisations and electronic composition may have finally found some middle ground in the new project from composer Scott Bruzenak and drummer Deantoni Parks called Astroid Power-Up! Their debut CD Googleplex takes the listener on a journey through the worlds of jazz, classical, drum 'n' bass, video game, and IDM, all fully integrated to highlight the fantastic, virtuosic, and beauty in each genre.

Deantoni Parks, one of NYC's favorite session drummers (Lauryn Hill, DJ Logic, Vernon Reid, John Cale, Kudu), has never sounded so free and inspired. He soars over the tracks laid out by Bruzenak with an infectious passion. Deantoni plays not only with amazing lightning precision akin to a drum machine, but also with the seasoned feel of someone who has lived with jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music his whole life. It's hard to believe he's human.

Not much is known about producer Scott Bruzenak, but he will surely turn some heads with this first effort. Channeling influences such as Bach, Squarepusher, Nancarrow, Bartok, Coltrane, and Ornette Coleman, he manages to present something completely fresh and new to the overworked genre of electronic music. His compositions match up perfectly to Deantoni's exuberant drumming, every electronic blip, saxophone line, and little piece of sonic information unique and in synch. This album will make you gasp in wonder.
