When deloused had came out Cedric and Omar we're telling that Jon is the greatest drummer of all time and that he's inputting on the structures of the song because "they're not that good at it".
During frances the same continued and Jon told in an interview that during frances it was mostly Omar and Jon in the studio putting the pieces together and I believe Omar even told that he might even change the guitars if Jon's beats we're that good. Jon also told that he made up the beats himself. Which is quite obvious because Jon's beats are miles more advanced musically than anything TP plays on bedlam, I believe every drummer with some real experience will agree with me.
After amputehcture they we're suddenly shitting on Jon every chance they had. Jon however has only said that they had "a great run but the life ran out of it" and has been cool ever since. We'll see what he'll say after the zach de la rocha album is released and Jon is interviewed again.
While Blake was in the band Omar and Cedric said Blake was the father of every beat and he's great. But suddenly when Blake left, they were talking shit about him too "just not the great drummer he used to be" and shit like that.
After they've gotten Pridgen everything is suddenly about technique while during Deloused and frances they we're according to interviews inputting more on "the way things are played". And suddenly it seems that Jon never did anything and was practically a lazy ass weak drummer who didn't contribute to the songs at all, although anyone who has seen Jon live or heard Deloused, Frances or Amp and has a brain in their head knows this is all bullshit.
So basically everytime a drummer has entered the band they have made him the king of the band and after the drummer has left he's been talked like the lowest scum on the planet.
I think it's pretty obvious that Omar and Cedric are very immature and egoistic when it comes to relationship. but that's just my opinion.
This does not change the fact that I still absolutely love most of their work.

io penso che sta storia ha rotto le palle. Concordo che Omar e soprattutto Cedric siano un piuttosto "estremi" nei giudizi, ma sottolineo anche che Jon non è passato dalle stelle alle stalle in 10 minuti. Tra i primi scazzi (jon che si rifiuta di continuare il set di amburgo, colonia o dove cazzo era) e amputechture è passato oltre un anno e mezzo, che è più che abbastanza per rovinare una relazione. Concordo che risulti fastidiosa quest'esaltazione continua di Pridgen (e a suo tempo quella di Fleming) da parte dei due, ma alla fine è anche comprensibile che facciano di tutto per coccolarsi il loro pupillo. Anche perchè mi sembrano sinceri. E poi che vi aspettavate, che dicevano "sì quello prima era meglio però visto che è una testa di cazzo ci pigliamo quello che passa il convento"? Che, tra l'altro, non mi sembra essere la loro opinione. I commenti post-dipartita di Cedric? Tristi, indubbiamente. Ma se pensi anche a quanto tempo gli ha fatto perdere e quante incazzature, capisco la rabbia.
Però, basta co' sta storia "dove ne trovano un'altro così, non avrebbero dovuto buttarlo fuori perchè è il migliore, despoti, dovrebbero accettare i ritmi degli altri, poverino, etc etc".
Il progetto "The Mars Volta" è proprietà di Omar e Cedric, punto. Non ci vuoi stare? Ciao.
Chi è che si terrebbe in squadra un rompicoglioni, che per quanto bravo sia "spacca lo spogliatoio" e fa come cazzo gli pare? E, tra l'altro, pensate che un allenatore possa dire "ah ok tu giovedì sera vuoi sballarti, ok venerdì allora non venire agli allenamenti"?
E il paragone è anche sballato perchè parliamo di arte e non di un gioco finalizzato a "vincere e fare soldi". E non ci sono neppure giocatori in panchina, se un membro (tra l'altro fondamentale, non parliamo delle maracas di marcel) della band fa di testa sua, ovviamente tutta la band va affanculo.
Uff, spero che sia abbastanza. E non incaponitevi su tutto, perdio e perlamadonna.
