amarcord (della serie grandi soddisfazioni dal lato sbagliato della musica, o - waiting for music):

yes of course i had to take a day job. what do you really think i magically appeared in a tour bus or in a van with an instant audience. how do u think i survived after a tour of playing to 5 people every night?do u think it ended with me just sitting around hoping my dream would come true? if rollins and mckaye worked at haag n fucking daas during early DC hardcore days then what do u think i was doing. i worked telemarketing, and waited tables and worked at carwashes. the main thing that i did was wait tables. at carrows in el paso. its where i wrote most of my atdi lyrics for incasinoout
and luckily unlike my other jobs i didnt have to quit every time a tour came up. you have to work shit jobs to at least pay for gas and tons of shirts to screen yourself and food. i really wonder about you guys sometimes. i was a pretty damn good waiter too. i could handle an entire late night rush on my own after a de la joya fight while jugalling 2 20 tops,14 booths and 7 reg filled tables. i made fucking bank cuz the little pussy ass high school kids would always want to leave when it was dead. i would send them home write when it was dead then wait for the rush.
if u have to ask what is was like working a shit job in order to support a dream then you really need stop living with mom and dad and put your naive asses out there and work a shit job. THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY IS WHERE YOU GO TO GROW AND SHARPEN FANGS. YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOMETIME IT BUILDS CHARACTER AND IS A CRASH COURSE IN LIFE. i am well aware that there are heavier jobs to take but that is where a good live show can be born. especially when half the assholes u serve are little dickheads who go to shows and live with mom and dad and laugh at you behind your back while sing along to your music when you hit the stage.
. TIP YOUR FOOD INDUSTRY SERVANTS, THEY ARE PROBABLY GOING TO MEMBERS OF YOUR NEXT FAVORITE BAND
