we are working on getting the revised artwork for the vinyls together since we will be adding Frances the Mute to the Vinyl we have to recut the master and cedric wanted to change some stuff on the comatorium art so bare with us we are definitely going to re-issue but I don't have an exact date hoping to be in the next 3-4 months available

Bellissimo disco, ho sia questo Lp che de loused di cui ho anche il Cd promo..
Grandi dischi, insieme ai tool i più innovatori e i più musicisti degli ultimi 15-20 anni.

E poi grandi ARTWORK! peccato i prezzi spropositati per comprare un loro Lp ormai raro.

PS: in de loused non riesco a scrivere (nel topic dico) come mai?

non so se i TMV siano stati degli innovatori, riguardo ai più musicisti, potrei afferrare ciò che intendi e esser quasi d'accordo. e vedo pareri abbastanza concordi nel metter almeno i primi due lp e Tremulant tra le cose migliori della prima decade dei 2000. direi che anche tra i live acts di inizio millennio non dovrebbero mancare.

riguardo ai pezzi spropositati dei primi Lp, credo sia una costante del mercato collezionistico, non c'è da stupirne. certo, eventuali ristampe farebbero la fortuna di appassionati che non possono spendere o che non hanno potuto prenderlo allora, Sonny e Cedric son sempre al lavoro sul progetto, purtroppo con la messe di uscite a nome Rodriguez-Lopez Productions c'è il rischio che vengano rinviate per un pò.

se sei un appassionato collezionista di materiale vario della band, il topic per te è questo, son gradite foto.

Just unearthed some VINYL of The Mars Volta: Scabdates, Frances The Mute going to RLP Store now. Not many copies so act fast kiddies

cioé hanno trovato delle copie di Frances The Mute e Scabdates in vinile. ovviamente, quindi, NON è la ristampa ma la stampa originale della Gold Standard Labs. e le metteranno in vendita sull'estore della OR-L Productions. di certo una buona opportunità per chi non l'ha preso allora per averlo a un costo contenuto. oddio, relativamente perché Hellomerch che gestisce le spedizioni ha pensato bene di lasciare come unica opzione per la spedizione internazionale la Airmail Prioritary. Allo stato attuale, un solo vinile preso da là vi costa circa 34 dollari (24 euro circa) solo di spese di spedizione.

Occhio anche per chi volesse prendere gli ultimi dischi di Omàr. A meno che non dobbiate prendere 20 vinili, lasciate perdere. Mi son lamentato personalmente di questa situazione con Cathy Pellow, vedremo se otterremo qualcosa: fare la label alternativa che mette i brani in download a basso costo è una buona cosa, ci perdono anche loro se proprio sui supporti fisici tagliano via i fan fuori dagli USA per responsabilità di spedizionieri troppo costosi (anche se non è che la tariffa più economica per le spedizioni fosse poi tanto più leggera).

Vedete voi se ne vale la pena, magari prendetene due, rivendendone uno in un secondo momento vi rifate di certo.

A lot of it was [written] on the spot. Omar — because he collects TVs — would set up his wall of TVs again. We used to live together and he would set them up all the time — kind of like in the David Bowie movie, The Man Who Fell to Earth, he had a stack of TVs like that. So he would do that while I would record vocals, and that would be the main inspiration. So it was everything from The Magnificent Seven and any Akira Kurosawa stuff. And I wouldn’t have [lyrics] written right away; I would just do takes of gibberish and then later try to fix them to make them into words. Sometimes he wanted to just keep the gibberish takes which he liked a lot better because it was the first reaction to the music. It’s just really [about] being in a state of being willing to give up to the producer your scratch tracks, as opposed to really working on it and refining it.

i am not aware of any demos for frances. omar wrote everything so i wouldnt say anybody sprinkled anything, but omar steered people in the direction that it became. the drum performances are the way they are because he pushed and pushed for it be performed a certain way. rhythm in cygnus dictates naturally what drums should be doing, bass and keys the same. it was live where everyone sprinkled their personal touches. only demo i know of is a stripped down version of miranda thats just acoustic. u are probably hearing some rehearsal of the songs after or a little before, but generally everybody learned their stuff on the spot and executed it then and there. so i dont know what you are listening too?

when omar tracked harlow it was pure magic. he brought joints and told epic stories about playing in the legendary foreman/ ali preconcert that has been repackaged in many incarnations(ie fania live in africa,james browns soul concert) fela was on the bill too and they were executing pickpockets under the stage during the show! yikes! harlow is the man responsible for turning santana on to salsa and was just an extreme pleasure to be around. that was one of voltas pinacles....then we played with him on stage in nyc.
