| Ramatheson, un utente del comatorio, si è messo ad analizzare riga per riga i pezzi dell'ultimo album. Copio/incollo, ovviamente sono da prendere con le superpinze che tutti avete in tasca quando si parla dei testi di Cedric, ma qualche spunto interessante c'è. Forse il problema di questa interpretazione (e delle altre della serie di Tamharreson) è il fatto di voler restare un po' troppo attaccati a quello che Omar e Cedric hanno rivelato sul concept, forzando i significati per trovare la quadratura del cerchio. A voi. CITAZIONE Soothsayer: This is a sad resignation from Goliath. As he is the spirit within the Soothsayer board, and this song preludes the board’s destruction, the song is titled after the board. With the next song, we will see the finale and last desperate messages from Goliath. For now, he is pleading and attempting to play to the band’s emotions. This song is a requiem for Goliath’s life and everything that went wrong. It is full of imagery.
My love becomes a mange
Goliath’s love for his daughter has become something ugly that infests everything around him. A “mange” is a type of parasitic infection.
Dyeing autumn in its leaves
When it broke me in the branch
Where my antlers come to feed
His love turned his tree of life (his family, daughter) into a bad thing. The branches were broken off (killed) when he killed his unborn grandchildren and his daughter. “Antlers” represent an animal, and Goliath acted as an animal coming “to feed” when he went to his daughter.
And I swam a hundred days
In the bosom of this filth
A “hundred days” represents more than eternity. 99 earlier in the album represented eternity. Here, 100 is even longer than that. He has been stuck in the ugliness he has created (bosom of this filth) for forever and a day (99+1 = 100)
Carry on this drought
As I tighten my belt
He will do what he can to survive. He will “tighten” his “belt” at this time when he is about to be destroyed. Tightening his belt is a metaphor for doing all he can to make it through this tough time (“drought’).
This deceit has no arms
He realizes that while he tricked Omar into letting him possess him, his plan will fail. The daughter personality will probably shine through long enough to lead Omar to the board’s destruction. His trickery (“deceit”) has no way to succeed (“has no arms”).
Bended will, take what's yours
Omar is the one who has been possessed (“bended will”). Goliath says, “Go ahead Omar, do what you will.”
Calling me she's calling me
Goliath can hear his daughter’s voice calling to him, preparing to wake again and take over. In another sense, he feels the guilt of what he did.
This it may have come to falter
Again, his plan has failed and he knows it.
We have become these pleads
His daughter and he are one, and they are now nothing more than an entity begging for forgiveness.
In a field of balding marble
Where the medicine awaits
A pristine, raw and natural field (“field of balding marble”) is where the means to destroy the board (“medicine”) lays.
The hourglass pokes at
The ribs of my cage
As time ticks on, Goliath comes closer and closer to destruction.
At half rations I'm finished
At half rations the minutes
He is like a starving person, waiting for death that is sure to come, however slowly.
All that happens was given
Coil and embrace
Everything that happened was the result of Goliath (the serpent) coiling and embracing the girl.
This deceit has no arms
Bended will, take what's yours
Calling me, she's calling me
This it may have come to falter
We have become these pleads
